I don't know a single person who has ever claimed to be Canadian when they've left the U.S. Secondly, I've traveled out of the U.S. many times and I've never had a problem. As a matter of fact, unless you're in another English speaking country, they don't even know you're American unless you tell them. You go to France, or Germany, or anyplace where English is the primary language they more commonly assume that you are British. They don't hear the difference between our accents like other English speaking people do. You may want to try talking of something you know more "aboot", eh?
