Many of us have asked why American taxpayers should foot the bill for illegal aliens and as of yet, no one has given a reasonable answer. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that Bush or any president before him hasn't sealed the Mexican border. Why are we being forced to support a child of an illegal just because his mother crossed the border to use our hospitals, knowing that her child would be a US citizen? When are enough people going to get fed up and demand that the government do something?
There was a Supreme Court case in the late 1970's which basically stated that governmental agencies cannot ask whether the person was legal or not. The particular case had to do with a hospital refusing treatment to an illegal. Ever since that time, that is why you do not see governmental forms asking what is your residency status. They verify your residency status in a number of ways, but cannot ask the question directly. i cannot remember the case and I am not at my business desk where I can access Westlaw database.
