What if the reasons for going into Iraq had nothing to do with WMD or UN sanction breaches. What if the reasons were bigger than that but explaining it would have compromised the strategy, or maybe there was a fear that we would not have agreed.

However you look at our situation, you must hope that our governement is looking at the long term best interest of our country. This is serious shit, and requires big boy attention.
It's tough one. On the one hand I don't like being lied to, but then I don't want to hear "we can't tell you why because it'll blow our plan", nor do I want to actually impede any actual plan they might have (I, personally, don't believe they are hell-bent on world domination. Call me a sap, but I just don't see it.).

But the problem with doing things for the "long term best interest" is that I don't know if I trust these people to be looking out for MY long term best interest. Everybody has a different idea of what that is. If Samantha were in power I'm sure she would acting in the country's "best interest" but I would think the country was going to hell in a handbasket.
