Why in heaven's name would you expect this to be a target???????

Because any image of mohammed is considered blasphemous.
Just like the jews have no graven images in there temples, the bible (Old testament) bans graven images.

Christians allowed them to appeal to the roman masses who liked images of their gods, it's all marketing.
