Getting back to the subject you could call it something like Nenchu Taikai (Middle aged).

But Veterans Taikai sounds just great. The word veteran is part of the Japanese vocabulary meaning someone with age and experience.

As a 55 year old with a few years of Kendo behind me I don't think the participants would be too please if you used the word oldies. You could end up facing one of them and have an interesting jigeiko followed by a rather long kakarigeiko!
