Somehow I thought the first logo is too feminin. Trying to tell too much. Second one doesn't mean anything about SC except it only represent Kendo. I don't like either of them. sorry, I may be picky...

I also agree with Rainmaker. I think the first logo is a little too busy. I like the simplicity of the second one, but I think it needs something more to identify itself as a SoCal logo.
