You have to give the kid credit, he is actually very good at what he does. There is alot of training that went behind it to pull those moves off. Some of you question his moves as too fancy, which is true. However, he is in a contest where the judges are probably looking for these fancy moves.
Just because he's good doesn't change the fact that what he does is BS. If you replace the kids sword with a pair of clubs and we can send him to the Olympics .

But also you have to remember, even though we practice Kendo, we don't hold a monopoly on what swordsmanship is.
Just because we do iaido, kendo, etc, doesn’t mean we don’t recognize crap when we see it

In fact, there is no way in hell you can say what we do now is even remotely close to a real sword duel.
I’m not so sure that’s true. Although kendo is bound by loads of rules and hitting areas that you what to afoid during a real fight, it still requires the insight, spirit and control needed in real combat.

No one in this day and age fight with real swords anymore, so really there is no comparison (it's not like mixed MA where you can test out difference style in non-weapon fighting).
Not this discussion again, please. I’ve never seen a martial artist of any discipline make a back flip. Maybe the wushu folks do it, but in the JSA world, no way, except for those homemade XMA sword styles.
