Yeah those thingies.

Made me think about the guy who was trying to make his bokken in parts so he would be able to take it with him on his bicycle. We couldn't get it in his mind that in the time he would have his bokken together the attacker would be long gone.

Wait a minute, don't hit me yet! I have to put my bokken together...

Hmm, I wonder if you could put together some sort of hinge and latch system so you could flick it into action. It would probably be awkward, but if you're really lucky it might form into one piece and lock into place just above the attacker's head. Almost like a bokken-whip.
