You're fighting it out with knives and icepicks in the street, but know better than to argue with a "bunch of drunk middle aged koreans". Was there something special about this group, or are drunk middle aged Koreans a group that you want to avoid pissing off as a matter of policy? - I have heard that South Korea has the highest per-capita number of black belt level martial artists anywhere in the world.

simple, drunk middle aged koreans are all crazy. besides, it's just understood in certain culture that one doesn't argue with elders. other thing is if i get caught arguing with elder on the street, i'll get beating of my life from other elders. and i learned that the hard way. when i was in 7th grade. i kick the crap out of one of the elder classman. next day 5 of them came and i had to take 50 punches to my face while standing in attention. of course, one of the guy was holding hatchet so i won't fight back. when and where i grew up (nyc flushing, in 80's), going against elder was the worst thing one can do for one's health.
