I didn't like that format and hope it has changed. For those of you not aware, it was a partial round-robin in groups of 4 or 5. Each team fought the team previous and next on the list, with last and first on the list fighting each other, just like you do for shinsa. Two best records advance but the strongest team may not have the best record - they may get second on wins/points depending on the quality of the opponents and how the list is arranged. Then you have the funky situation like Curtis describes.
