Not useful now with the cold weather. But a long time ago Obukan raised a lot of money with a "free" car wash. This generated cash in two ways. One by donations made at the car wash, and two by pledges collected by our members.

The idea was to get so much pledged per car washed. The big money came when some of our members, started playing their acquintances off against each other. Something like, "so and so (or their company) pledged $0.25 per car, you aren't going to let them out do you, are you?"

It also helps in that Obukan (and now Idaho) is a 501(c)(3), so all donation are a tax write off.

Obukan also did a silent auction, but that event was not well promoted and although we made some money, most of it was from club members buying the stuff themselves.
