What's popular right now are "steak nights". There are several local pubs that offer a deal where they provide a cheap steak meal (sometimes there's other choices) that you sell tickets to. You set your own ticket price. Typically here the place charges $8/head, and most people sell the tickets for $15. So you get $7/head profit. Then at the event, you have a silent auction, a 50/50 draw, sell them chocalates or cookie dough or whatever other fundraising products you normally hawk, and all that money is profit. The pub takes the profits from the bar, which is how they get their end of the deal as the meal is pretty much a wash for them. Usually this will be held on a slow night like a Sunday or Monday. I know some organisations can make around $4000 at one of these nights.

So check to see if any places in your area offer similar deals.
