Ive never been in a real sword fight, but I think your description of it - it you replace "foam bat" with "sword" - might be close to what a real sword fight might be like.

I think if you define what you mean by "grace" then that could help us to point you in the right direction.

I also like your description of kendo -- because thats what it obviously looks like to people who dont do it. Pretty boring right?
