Now, I don't want it to sound like I'm generalizing, but this certain dojo seems to be full of cocky kenshi. I have no idea why. They all suck. Maybe it's cause they are 5-year 3-dans? Gee, took me well over 10 years to get my 3-dan. AND they line up ahead of me when we do seiza.

First, maybe the people who were late come there all the time and the day that you arrived they happened to be late. Or maybe they have an understanding with the sensei that they'll be coming late. But about the lining up part during seiza, as a visitor to the dojo, you should line up at the end of the ranks because you are a visitor...But anyway, let's say these guys came here all the time, they would naturally go to their spot and then you came and tried to get ahead of them...seems pretty assholish to me. They don't know your rank or how long you've been doing Kendo. Besides, when you line up according to rank, it's usually done by age before experience...were they older than you? If not they probably lined up ahead of you because you're a visitor to their second dojo.
