I think it is important to realise that all Kendo isn't the same. You have Dojo that are more sport Oriented, some that are more traditional etc so there is a wide ammount of variation even within Kendo and I would imagine within Kumdo as well. The only way you will ever know is by attending some of the training and watching. After all we are all in Kendo (Kumdo if thats your lean) to get out of it what we want and you need to find a dojo that provides what you want.
