Does anyone know anything about Myo Sim Kendo? Is it the same as Kendo or is it one of those "fake" martial arts? I'm wondering because I get a little rusty when I'm at school and I saw that there was Myo Sim Kendo practice at a nearby recreation center. It'd be nice if I could practice with them once in a while to stay sharp.
Hi!

I agree with the rest of the guys. Go to a real Kendo dojo. I just went to look at that site on it, and it is definately not Kendo.(So had to edit, of course. ) I am surprised you didn't check the AUSKF or the Kendo America sites for dojos in VA. There are two Kendo dojos near you. One in Arlington and one in Oakton. I looked on a map to see how far. And, they both look to be 20 miles or less from you according to the mile legend on the map I looked on. So no complaining about driving distance. hehehe! My dojo is at least 2 hours away, so you are VERY lucky to have one much closer. The stuff in blue are the websites and e-mails to click on.

Here it is:

GNUSKF
Northern Virginia Budokai

Friday 7:30 - 10p Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department

There is also this one in Oakton:

Oakton Elementary School
Oakton Virginia

Shidogakuin Washington DC Kendo Dojo (Washinkan)Washington DC Metro Area: Rockville, MD, Oakton, VA

So, you now have two to choose from to fit your schedule. You don't have to go to all the practices, if you don't have a lot of time to attend all the practices, though it would be preferable to attend them all. I myself, only get to go once every other week, but wish I could go every week. If you practice on your own outside the dojo time, this won't be a huge problem.

Oh, and here is the map I used. Oakton on this map is, I guess, near Washington. I couldn't find it, so Washington DC is what I used to measure the distance for the Oakton dojo. So, for that dojo, 20 min. is an approximate guess for the driving distance.

Well, I hope this helps!
