I have yet to find anyone who practices "real combat oriented kendo" who is any good at kendo. Maybe in Japan there are guys hidden away but not here.

The idea of practicing 15 or more years and only being nidan or sandan doesn't sit well with members of the "instant gratification" school of training.

In some of these schools you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a soke, grand master or shihan. Jeez.
