I went to their school to just see what was going on: I saw an ad at my college for "real samurai swordfighting". They advertised (I kid you not) that if you wanted to be like your favorite anime swordsman, you could learn it there: Kenjutsu, kendo, iaijutsu, battoujutsu, jujutsu, taijutsu, etc. just to name a few on the flyer. I swear I am not making this up.

I went, I made the mistake of putting on my bogu to practice with them, and we fought. I mean that. Fought. No semblance of keiko was ever enacted. Thats how they role.

They bring out shinai, shinai that have been shortened to "koadach" (no spelling errors), a "nag"(actionflex baby), and a yari. The last was my favorite, because it was a rattan bo with a length of foam TAPED on to the top.

I'll be going for my ikkyu again in Febuary. I'm an intermediate at best.

I managed to beat their "renshi" at least twice by their count, and more by good ole sport kendo standards. I am not bragging. I'm giving you an illustration.

If I can find their ad I'll scan it in and let you see it.
