Well, I'm in no position to comment on the quality of the writing about Kendo. Having studied other sword arts, it seems realistic to me, but....

I like the story. It's a fairly typical Japanese story, about a group of individuals coming together to be stronger as a team, and the trials and tribulations each of them face. As it happens, I like that kind of story. And it's also what could be described as "slice of life," which, again, is a genre I rather like. So it was right up my alley. Kaoru-san, you're in the US, so pull up Hulu and check out the first episode.
IIRC, they had a kendo sensei advise them so that the general movements and kendo concepts presented would be factually correct. There are 26 episodes and I haven't heard that there will be any more made. Technically, that is 2 seasons since a season is generally about 13 episodes. Hulu has some episodes twice because they are dubbed and subbed.
It's a cute series though and I found it enjoyable enough to rewatch although I disliked the ending. I'm told it diverges from the manga a bit in the 2nd season though I haven't read it beyond what scansites have available.
