Too small a sample and little correlation. Rapes were up over the last two years, but down over the last decade.

The first few lines of the article give the impression of causality between the record heat and the rise in homicides, but the homicide rate in Chicago was up 60% during the first 3 months of 2012 compared to the same period in 2011, and 38% through June.
