As a native of the South (a place full of so many liberal haters), I believe ablarc touches on all the main causes of this particular form of hatred. But my question for him is why do so many Americans equate quiche-eating with snobbery? I've heard people do this my whole life, but always wondered where it originated. To me, quiche isn't a particularly fancy pants dish. But maybe people thought it was 20+ years ago and it's just stuck as an example of being hoity-toity???
