Lieberman does not give the Dems the 60 they needed for override power or to stop a filibuster. Therefore, he is not critical to the caucus.

During his re-election, he ran against the party and is a self-declared independent. He has criticized Obama and implied that the country is less safe with an Obama presidency. He gave the Republicans firepower throughout the 2008 campaign and campigned for their candidates. He alluded to or stated outright that Obama is a marxist, socialist, terrorist, anti-american, etc.

Strip him of all committee chairmanships. We do want a spirit of hope and cooperation, but this is politics. To the winner go the spoils and the Dems ought to flex a little muscle here. Republicans were expeced to support McCain and the Republican platform. A person caucusing with Dems is not - especially a former V.P. candidate. We need to work with the Republicans and we will. Lieberman should be set up by the Dems right now to be considerably weakened and silenced, so Lamont can run against him once again and win.

Dems have majorities in Congress. It is now up to the progressives to begin challenging conservative Democrats and all Republicans by running progressive candidates again them in primaries and the general election.
