Its certainly not for everyone. But I tell you what, for English audiences at the time - it was a hit show. Probably as successful as Friends was - it was a must see show along with "The Professionals". I remember growing up watching both AYBS and if I was a good boy I would be allowed to stay up and watch "Blakes 7" or "The Professionals" - the latter was very cool with some great acting.

I think that AYBS carried on the Carry On series type of humor but was overall far better written and more subtle. Just my 2 cents.
