I only read the article - but he's got a point. A lot of Americans are self-entitled and it's all "me, me, me" or "What about what I want?" My dad taught us to work hard for what we want in life and we never expected a hand out. I agree with his comment about the "first wave of participation trophies." When I grew up, if you didn't place in an event, you just didn't. How does that teach a kid anything if you're like "Oh well you suck but here's a reward anyway." How does that teach them to work harder? If I didn't make a team or get into a club or something one year, I worked on my shortcomings and tried again. Some people are a bit ridiculous in our society and sometimes the shit gets old.
