In that case I would not bother with the 85mm you linked, as that will be too long on a crop sensor camera (which she has). On that camera, the 50mm she already has is perfect for portraits, and indoors lowlight shots without flash.
Many would disagree with that and say that 85mm is an ideal length for portraiture on a crop sensor. It CAN be a bit long, especially indoors in tight spaces, but otherwise you can make the background much less distracting on an 85mm compared to a 50mm.

idchoppers, your wife probably has good reasons for putting the 85mm on her wish list and she will be the best judge of what lenses are ideal for her photography. If you get that lens, you probably can't go wrong.
