I think there's certainly such a thing as a too big screen. For example, I sit about 1.5 meters away from my 42" TV. I feel like anything bigger would make glancing at hud elements in games at the edges of the screen much less of a glance and much more of a look.

That said, if I had the room I'd certainly sit further back and opt for 60"+. The sense of scale in gaming was never really delivered with a 24" monitor and it can only improve as screens get bigger.

As for 8K, I'd like for TV's to get other factors such as motion handling, contrast, black level and color accuracy right before working on resolution. I find they're much more beneficial for image quality.
