I was going to answer something similar. This place had truckloads of hardware Gurus. It was the tech boards that were buzzing with traffic and GD was the playground. I'm guessing the computer enthusiast market is contracting. I cut my teeth on this site and learned a lot. Everybody used to OC and bench. No we just buy the fastest systems out there and run at stock. I don't OC any more at all. I remember discussions in the graphics and mobo boards that were over my head in expertise. I just think people are contributing less.
Hardware is much less interesting. Motherboards and their software has advanced quite a bit, and hardware requires less effort to work optimally - no pissing about with IRQs etc.

Also nothing pushes it anymore, so why bother? Much less heat management needed nowadays - trying to balance performance, heat, and noise.

People like Cathar, WS_JP, DJ and plenty others moved on and grew up. When they left, and the company changed names, and a very ugly colour scheme that felt far too corporate, forums started dieing.
