Currently listening to Gunslinger, cannot remember who is reading it.
Yeah, a physics book or something Sparafucil might read for fun isn't the best fare when driving. I typically go with the adventure/magic books just for that reason. The gunslinger is one such book (book 1 dark tower series). IIRC king redid that book in the last decade or so. I guess he started writing that in the early seventies and want to clean up some discrepancies. Has Roland made it to town yet? I think that is where things start to get interesting in that book.

He is one of my all time favorite characters. Roland, the last gunslinger, the last of the blood of Arthur, following the man with no name on the path to the Dark Tower... a tower that has had an effect in one way or another on every story King has ever written. And Stephen King has written a lot of stories.

I think Ill give that series a listen.
SoT is one of the best I have heard, at least until book 5-6. Problem is, it is a 12+ book series. It is good after book 6, it is just by that point half of each book is used retelling all the books before it for the new reader that just jumped in, and it is about that point where Goodkind really starts to get preachy. But you will love Zeddiccus.
