The real question is, do you...

A. Open the door for them and let them pass through first before you do

B. Open the door and then just hold it open as you walk through first so that the person can catch it by the time they walk through

C. Don't hold it open for anyone at all

I do B most of the time but if I'm in an exceptionally good more or the person behind me is carrying something or is elderly then I do A.
