Expecting people to thank you out of obligation for something they didn't ask you to do is very childish.

I don't know why I am bothering to try and explain that to YOU of all people, I think, as a perpetual child, you will never understand the idea.

To you, it's not about simply doing a good deed, it's all about the payoff and making yourself feel better. Blech.
