My concern is more: will the integrated GPU have enough grunt to run everything at such a high res or will every media aspect be downgraded to half the native res?

It should do, check out the videos of the new Tegra3, the graphics look to be on par with PS3/X360.

But Samsung and Apple will be using different screens. Samsung is using Pentile (which I assume is OLED) while Apple prefers IPS.
