That literally doesn't make any sense. Technology improves immensely each year without sacrificing power for energy consumption. The iPhone 4S has a better battery life than the original iPhone, while costing the same and being an order of magnitude more powerful.
Over the past few years, I've only seen battery life in mobile phones and laptops go down, from what used to be days or weeks to mere hours. Of course it's different for each device and even for each user, but in my experience, very few of today's devices would last one weekend of heavy use. Of course, it may not be a reasonable thing to expect, but I for one wouldn't really mind if power consumption was a bit more important. I've seen tablet specifications where the battery life is as little as five hours, which wouldn't even get me through a work day.

Basically, just like the rest of us, I'll always want a bit more than what I can get.
