If politicians don't really write the laws, then there is no point in voting them in/out, is there?

If laws are essentially written by outside parties, then manipulating those parties would be a better course of action, no?
You think you'll have better luck manipulating 10,000+ organizations with separate interests, versus 535 legislators who can either be influenced or ignore the influence of lobbyists? That kind of sounds like a loss of focus. If you work to put people in who ignore the outside influences, they become irrelevant.

Either way, it's a tough battle.
