Yes, her husband is criminal, he deserves punishment but she can also forgive him if she likes.

Do you think, forgiving someone is harmful to Islam and Ummah?

he's not only harming her, but his ex wife. and she shoudlnt be treated as a slave.

forgiveness is only for those who accept they did wrong and stop doing that wrong. this guy hasnt stopped and nor has his mother so no they dont deserve forgiveness. in islam allah wont forgive you until you give bac the right to the person you wronged. its a condition of tawbah. if someone stole and then apologised, woudl you expect them to give it back or just forgive them?
