Someone asked this question :

Now can you please categorise these animals as halaal or haraam. Camel, cow, buffalo, monkey, donkey, mule, elephant, horse.
I have heard all these questions before. I do not know if this “maulana” or that “maulana” has torn the “munkareen hadeeth” to smithereens before. I will most gladly discuss this issue with any maulana. Can the members of this sunniforum please make arangements for me to dialogue with any such “maulana”? I will be most happy to engage them. From my experience however they all cut and run.

Firstly the Quran is the hadith. I have quoted Surah 39:23 and Surah 45:6 which many people here are cleverly avoiding from answering. Brothers and sisters, you say you are Muslim. You say you are better than the kafirs because you hold the Quran while they do not.
Yet here I have quoted just two verses frm the Quran ie Surah 39:23 and Surah 45:6 and you are finding it extremely difficult to believe that th Quran is the hadith, the best hadith or ahsana hadith.

You reject the Quran. I want an answer from all you clever people in this sunniforum – please comment on Surah 39:23 and Surah 45:6. Can you accept these two verses of the Quran ? Yes or no? If you cannot accept these two verses then how can you be Muslims? Please can someone answer?

Instead I get these silly questions whether cows, elephant, horses are haram, halal and such. Such childish minds. Ok let me answer these childish questions for the childish among you.

Why did you not include the dhawwab lizard or locusts? Acording to you both the dhawwab lizard and the locust are halal. The dhawwab is a desert dwelling lizard. You say that it is halal to eat this dhawwab lizard. Fine. So is it haram for other people to eat lizards in their countries? A lizard is a lizard – it may eat insects, other animals etc. Lizards don’t buy food from the halal shop you know. You say it is halal to eat locusts. Fine. So is it haram if they eat grasshoppers and other insects in Cambodia?

What about the Eskimos? Does this sunniforum have any Eskimos as its members? Eskimos eat fish, seals, walruses, whales, sharks, polar bears and deer. Why? Because these are the creatures available in their surroundings. Are you going to tell them that they must become sunnis and eat only dhawab lizards, cows, goats, chicken and camels? Surely you must have more intelligence than that?

And what about native people in Africa, Asia, South America etc? They eat monkeys, snakes, kangaroos and other native creatures for thousands of years. It is Allah who created them in that way. That is all they may have to eat in their environment. Cows, goats (for biryani cooking) are not natural inhabitants of the Amazon rain forest or the rainforest in Papua New Guinea or the Australian desert.

But what did the Rasool teach us? Remember what the Rasool said in Surah 39:23. The Rasool said that the Quran is the ahsana hadith or the best hadith. So here is the best hadith from the Rasool.

What is HALAL?

Surah 5:4 “They ask you what is halal for them; say, "Halal for you are all good things, and what you train from the animals, the trained dogs, from what Allah has taught you, thus eat what they catch for you, and mention GOD's name thereupon. You shall observe GOD. Surely Allah is most efficient in reckoning.”

Yas’aloonaka mazaa uhilla lahum. Qul uhilla lakumu at-thayyibaatu wamaa ‘alamtum minal jawaahiri mukallibeena mimma ‘allakumullaahu fakulu mimma amsakna alaikum isma-llaahi alaihi wattaqu-llaaha innalaaha saree’ul hisaab.

If the desert lizards (dhawwab) are good for you, then eat them. If seals, walruses and whales are good for you then eat them. Anything that is good for you is halal. That is what the Rasool taught us in the hadith in Surah 5:4 above.

What is haram for you? Here is another hadith –

Surah 5:4 “Prohibited for you are animals that die of themselves, blood, the meat of khinzeer and animals dedicated to other than GOD. ..”
So the Quran is clear what is haram for you. This is what the Rasool said in his hadith in the Quran.

Can the Rasool then go ahead and create other rules about halal and haram outside the Quran? That is what you are saying. You are saying that the Rasool was a munkar, a traitor to Allah who made up his own laws – other than what Allah had revealed to him – and then claimed that that was also from Allah and Islam. That is what you say. You have just made the Rasool a munkareen hadith – the hadith that is the Quran.

Lastly the brother said that I have translated the word zikr wrongly. Yes zikr literally means remembrance. I agree with you. But the Quran was first revealed to Arabs. Not Pakistanis. Arabs who already knew the language of the Quran. It was not an invitation to Arabs to “memorise” the Quran like parrots but to learn and remember the message of Allah. The Quran says of itself :

Surah 68:52 ‘Wa maa huwa illa zikrun’ which means ‘It is not but a reminder (zikrun) for the world’

This refers to the Quran. The Quran is the zikrun or the reminder. This does not mean that the Quran is to be memorised and repeated like a parrot over the tv and radio or at Quran recital contests or on Friday nights in a sing song fashion.
The Quran or zikrun is a lesson and a guidance for mankind.

Now please look at the preceding verse Surah 68:51 :

“And those who disbelieve would almost smite you with their eyes when they hear the reminder (Al Zikra), and they say: Most surely he is mad.”

This is exactly what you are doing now. I am reminding you (zikr) with the Quran and that one brother has already said ‘what insanity’? You are in very good company. This is exactly what the disbelievers also said.

I hope someone is brave enough to answer the hadith in Surah 39:23 and the hadith in Surah 45:6. Please you may call upon the more worthy maulanas from among you to engage this discussion.

Also please note that the Sahih Bukhari that you have is NOT written by Imam Bukhari. It has come through Ibnu Hajar, Al Khushyamani and Al Firabri. To say that the Sahih Bukhari you have today comes directly from Imam Bukhari is patently false.
The true hadith is the Quran. It is the best hadith (Surah 39:23).
