Is this appropriate behaviour in Islam?
Asalaamu alaykum wr wb
I work in an islamic primary school which uses hidden cctv cameras in all the classes. Nobody knows of the existence of these cameras and we were not told they are installed and regularly used.
I discovered their existence by accident. I and another teacher are the only ones who know.
Islamic schools like state ones use enhanced CRB checks to weed out undesirable applicants. If a state school uses cctv they clearly inform parents and teachers of the wherabouts of these cameras.
Our headteacher uses these cameras to eavesdrop on personal conversations. We then get a lecture on gheeba in the meeting, and policy is altered amended in the light of these snoopings. The head uses information gleaned for personal advancement and control.
Is he not a party to gheeba himself? Is he guilty of eavesdropping? Is this not a sin? Or is his behaviour trustworthy and of a high moral standard and we deserve to be monitored silently and possibly iilegaly and our private conversations scanned by the head teacher?
To be honest im personally disgusted and feel violated.
