This proves you are are the worst student of history of all time. Academia is full of people who still argue about this amoungst each other.

I would hope you were introduced historiography in your studies, even if it appears you were not.

I did have a course on historiography. We learned about past interpretations of historic events and periods - such as how early twentieth century interpretation of Civil War was dominated by white supremacist ideology.

In my Civil War seminar course, the professor there said that for most part, historians agree that slavery was the main cause of the Civil War.
