Yeah, Heraclitus is right on this. Human beings instinctually fear "others" not of their particular "clan." This is why ethnic tribalism formed the basis of human society for so long and cultural melting pots are a relatively new phenomenon. The entire history of human civilization is a progression to less and less culturally biased and insular societies.

According to your reasoning, inbreeding or a reduction of genetic diversity is a natural status quo. Your logic is in opposition to all known natural science. Er, no. Virtually all animal species exhibit even more xenophobia, even to members of the same species, than humans do. It has been documented that "clans" of chimps engage in genocidal warfare with each other. Most animals are viciously territorial in the wild.
