The don't speak Spanish in Brazil.
I said Latin America though (Brazil is a part of Latin america but not Hispanoamerica). But them being more powerful economically than before is mainly due to sheer size in combination with doing better. Per capita I don't think the difference is all that big compared to other countries in the region.
