Gypsies could be considered noble because they never commited genocide like europeans or enslaved other races, you see the meaning is subjective it depends on your view. In all over the world there are gypsy populations and they are called gypsies because they have in common that they are lowest of class, migrant or such, but they are not racially related, in india there are several gypsy tribes, but who are not the same race, there are asian gypsies who are called sea gypsies, and there are white gypsies/irish travellers.

You do have a point there. That they aren't all definatively related. Its worthy of mentioning that the Lambadis of the South stick out from pariahs almost as much as the Brahmins.
