Pao, you're confused about what I meant. I do not like terms like
Latino
being imposed on people of "Latin American" descent who are not of full Latin European descent. You have to learn to accept that not everyone is going to think like you. Yes,
Latino
is a Eurocentric word that is very colonial. I know a Dominican, a Peruvian, and some Mexican Americans who do not identify as
Latino
. If you want to identify as Latina, be my guest, but do not force others to adopt the label if they don't want to.
Now, they are South Americans, Caribbean, Mexicans, Central Americans, etc. I do consider someone who was born in Uruguay with grandparents from the Far East to be Uruguayan and South American, however, not
Latino
.
