I love the "melanin theory"... since all humans have the same amount of melanin. I've seen with my own eyes white people as dark as blacks, when I was in Alaska on a glacier, probably the best place to get a tan since the sun is reflecting off the ice. I thought my guide was black until I got closer to him, he actually could have passed for a Horner with bleached hair at that point. It wasn't just the humans on that camp, the sled dogs also, that would normally have light skin under their fur, had dark skin, you could see it on their bellies.

I wish I had a scanner, I'd scan the picture I took of my guide. I couldn't believe it. He was like, darker than even most of the black people on this forum (who's pictures I have seen, anyways). He was a nice guy, too.
