I have to disagree The difference between African Americans and Most West Africans isnt as Obvious as it is being played out to be, frankly because the majority of phenotypes from slim to broad light to dark, is shared in high enough frequency in both groups and both groups are majority descendant of similar people. The Average West African from Nigeria, Like igbo, Hausa, or ypruba, Or Mauritania, or Liberia, of Mali, or Burkina faso, or Cape verde, Ghana, would not stick out very much among African Americans.

The difference between A typical good looking West African and an A good looking African American is closer to the difference between Idris Elba and Will smith, & I've lived in both parts of the world the average African American by phenotype alone is on average indistinguishable from majority west africans.
I agree with the overlap between us and West Africans, as the majority of Aframs could pass somewhere in West Africa. But as a whole, theres more of an obvious difference between us and West Africans when you add these people to the mix.

Add that to the fact that two dark skinned relatively unmixed looking Aframs could have children that look like this.

That's what makes the difference between us and our West African ancestors more obvious than with White Americans and Europeans.
