So Berbers were just these people that the Arabs hired basically to fight for them? Why did they allow the Arabs to be the leaders?

Maybe because they conquered most of the Berber tribes at that time? They didn't 'hire' them. They were expected to fulfill their duty despite most Berbers fighting for Islam at that time were nominal Muslims. It wasn't until the 9th century that Berbers actually began accepting Islam after a revolt that failed that I can't recall the year of.

And how did black Africans come into play in all this? I thought Berbers were not black? There are like Black people you can hire and stuff to like fight people you don't think are as cool. Sudanese horseman were famous for being good archers. Ever try shooting an arrow from a horse? It's damn hard. There is also something called 'slavery' and sometimes when you bang your slave all night long she pops out a baby after nine or so months. You might not want your baby to be a slave.
