I think in some places of Europe 'whiteness' (or rather 'paleness') is connected to blue blood and belonging to aristocracy, not specific race.
Pale= relaxing under umbrella, masturbaing under table, powdering skin and bored catchin' lice.
Dark= plowing in the field on knees and falling on back from time to time, getting suntan, and later fire, cheap wine and getting swollen from booze and crap food.
