In the animal kingdom, a Lion with a big thick mane is sexy, and a big thick mane is a sign of a well fed lion. Male Lions will even shed their mane if they loose to a new alpha male.

So poor health or malnutrition could cause "ugliness" in other animals.

My girlfriend wore a lion mane hair weave.

No. I grew up on bread and water (I was for sure deficient in vitamind D and calcium) I was a very picky eater who did not eat any of the boiled chicken my parents offered, didn't drink milk, etc... Anyways today a homosexual man at work out of the blue said I was a "8 or higher on a 1-10 scale".

I known people who have ate mcdonalds on a daily basis for 20 years and they still look healthy regardless. Bad nutrition mostly affects our interior moreso than our exterior. Of course, people who eat nothing for days become noticeably different.
