A new country yes, but a probable new failed state too.

It wasn't doing so well as part of the Sudan given decades of Civil War and almost no attempts at modernization. More like Failed Province becomes a Failed State. Perhaps if they don't have to worry about fighting for their freedom they will focus instead on improving their condition. I wouldn't bet money on that, just saying its possible.
