I would like to stress that the main point is not itself the fact of denying ancestry, but this specific case where people deny their ancestry despite they look typical for this ancestry. There are different levels and motives of denials, but as long as they are at least possible to believe in, its sort of understable.
Its different when an asian looking guy claims he is spanish or latino-indian-exotic girls claims she has spanish blood only.
Actually you're right, couldnt agree more with that, however it happens backwards as you read between lines in Dave's last post.

He, as many other Lat ams seem to have a really big issue with some other latams "saying we are spaniard"..... of course I'm not an spaniard niether want to be one I'm mexican however european iberian/french heritage is very evident in my family.



So as it is good to aknowlege one is mestizo when it is obvious one is mestizo but it is wrong for us to aknowlege euro ancestry when it is in fact there noticeable to the eyes of everybody.
