You fool... I'm referring to the origins of the practice.

The origin of matrilineality b'Yahadut are uncertain, I personally think that P'rušim pasted the roman law for status determination (which was also matrilineal).
After all, Josephus does state that P'rušim were pro-roman and as such, this hypothesis of mine becomes plausible.

What Rabbis/Jews/etc do today is a different story. What rabbanim do today is irrelevant to the "origins of the practice", so your outburst looks rather odd
