Apparently my family were in Norway 1,000 years ago... and then made their way to Sicily... and then to New York... and here I am.

Mitochondrially, anyway. Paternally, who knows.

Your gene has been migrating all those centuries.

I recently read that Southern Europeans have been migrating since the late 1880's and it was coined "New Immigration" which was the very beginning of the large migration to America which gave rise to a greater diversity of immigrants.

Besides America where did your people migrate also?
